Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 1 January 2024: When the workers went to the court, Muhammad Yunus tried to manage two labor leaders outside the court by bribing them with Tk 6 crore, alleged Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud.

He said this at the unveiling ceremony of the book entitled 'Refugee Statement 1971' in the Ministry meeting room at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.

The minister said, "Malala Yousafzai won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 12 or 14. People are also afraid of when an eight-year-old boy is given the Nobel Peace Prize."

Dr. Yunus is a Nobel laureate, what is your opinion about the verdict given against him, the minister said, "Many Nobel laureates in the world have been sentenced in criminal and civil cases. Many have also served a lot of jail time. With respect to Dr. Yunus, I want to say that a case has been filed against him. For not paying the dues. He did not pay the dues of the workers for many years. Then when the workers went to the court, he tried to manage the two labor leaders outside the court by bribing Tk 3 crores each, for a total of Tk 6 crores.

"But if two labor leaders get money, it won't happen, because the ordinary workers didn't get any money. That's why the ordinary workers filed a case. The judgment of that case is going to be decided. Now there is a lot of talk about the rights of the workers. Many friendly countries also talk a lot to ensure the rights of the workers," he said.

So, if the Nobel laureate does not explain the dues to the workers, will there not be a case against him, the information minister said, "I hope the friendly countries will not talk about it. A case has been filed against him for not explaining the rights and dues of the workers. A crime has been committed. A case has been filed."
