Own correspondent, Dhaka, 17 January 2024: The Ministry of Education has decided to change the directive two hours after issuing the directive that educational institutions should be closed if the temperature drops below 17 degrees. According to the changed decision, educational institutions can be closed only if the temperature falls below 10 degrees instead of 17.

Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education Mohammad Abul Khair gave this information at around 5:30 pm on Tuesday, January 16.

He said, the letter is being corrected. If the temperature falls below 10 degrees instead of 17 degrees, educational institutions should be closed in consultation with the education officials of those districts. Earlier, around 3:30 pm, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSI) issued an instruction to close educational institutions during winter. It is said that severe cold current is flowing in different districts of the country. It is known that the normal activities of education of students are being disrupted in this ongoing winter.

In this case, in the districts where the maximum temperature will fall below 17 degrees Celsius (as per the weather forecast of the concerned Meteorological Office), the regional deputy directors in consultation with the education officer of those districts will direct the closure of secondary level educational institutions. Two hours later, the Ministry of Education announced the change in that decision. However, no one could explain the reason for such a change in decision.
