Dhaka, September 10: If the coronavirus infection continues to increase in the country again, educational institutions will be shut down. Health Minister Zahid Maleque told reporters after inspecting the BDS first year admission test at Titumir Government College in Mohakhali on Friday (September 10th) morning.

The minister expressed satisfaction over the overall environment even though the hygiene rules were ignored in the test center. “Since the examinees are all adults so we forbade the parents to come, even then they came,” he said.

Asked if the educational institutions in the country will be closed if infection rises, as it did in USA after the reopening of schools, he said. "America and our country are different. In case of coronavirus infection, of course, the Ministry of Education will close the educational institution, we will also give such advice."

Regarding vaccination of people under the age of 18, the health minister said that permission from the World Health Organization (WHO) has not yet come. Children's vaccinations will be decided if the WHO allows it. The rate of coronavirus disease in children is low, the minister said.

He said two crore vaccines will be available this month. The vaccine will come in 5 million doses every week for the next three months. One hundred million vaccines will be purchased from Covax. The minister also said that Pfizer vaccine will be given wherever possible.
