Experimental train reached Bhanga by crossing Padma Bridge from the capital

Dhaka, 20 August 2023 : An experimental train (tack car) of the railways', which started its journey from Dhaka's Gandaria station, crossed Padma Bridge and reached Bhanga station on Saturday. The tack car left Gandaria around 9:30 am.

The experimental tack car took two and a half hours to reach Mawa in Munshiganj. After an hour break at Mawa, it took another hour to cross the Padma Bridge and reach Banga station.

Those concerned said that it takes two and a half hours for the tack car to reach Mawa after crossing Buriganga and Dhaleswari from Gendaria station in the capital. Finishing work is now underway on the Padma Bridge Railway. After a few months, broken passenger rail will start from Dhaka. The 172 km railway from Dhaka to Jessore will be launched in 2024.

Project Director of Padma Bridge Rail Link Project. Afzal Hosan said, "We came today mainly to see what work is left from Dhaka to Mawa. The railway line from Dhaka to Mawa has already been completed. Now only some tamping, packing, leveling works are left."

He said, "The progress of Dhaka-Mawa section is about 85 percent. Here is some work left on our station. The signal is not finished. And some tamping work of the track is unfinished. We have laid the rail line. But we will need another month to do the leveling and alignment work."

Syed Shaukat Ali Lebu, Technical Engineer of Padma Bridge Rail Link Project, said, "We reached Mawa today for the first time by riding the experimental train from Ganderia in Dhaka. We arrived in Mawa very nicely. Work progress is quite good. Now there is little finishing work left. Which will be completed satisfactorily within a few days. The Prime Minister will inaugurate it sometime in late September and passenger trains will start running."
