Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 19 December 2023: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that if the candidates do not follow the code of conduct by maintaining mutual relations among themselves, then free and fair elections are not possible.

He said this after an exchange meeting with 36 candidates of the district at Rangpur Circuit House on Tuesday, December 19 at noon.

The CEC said that the candidates have been given a message to make the 12th National Assembly elections free, fair and acceptable. However, if the candidates are not sincere, if they are not aware, if they do not have mutual trust, if they do not behave properly, then it will be difficult to have a free, fair and impartial election. This message has been given to the candidates by the Election Commission.

The CEC also said that the candidates promised to cooperate in the election process with mutual trust and confidence. They are also hopeful that this time the elections will be free, fair and impartial. Earlier, the meeting started at 10 am and continued till 12:30 pm. Later, Chief Election Commissioner sat in a law and order meeting at Rangpur District Shilpakala Academy.

Election Commissioner Rasheda Sultana, Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Rangpur Range DIG Abdul Baten, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Moniruzzaman and other senior officers were present in the exchange meeting.
