Dhaka, December 31: Another General Purpose (GP) bomb was found during the ongoing piling at the construction site of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. This is the fifth such bomb that has been recovered from the airport.

At 10:40 am on Wednesday, a bomb detection and disposal squad of the Bangladesh Air Force found another bomb weighing approximately 250 kilograms under the ground. The bomb was later defused with the necessary equipment and sent to a safe place for careful demolition.

This information was given in a notification of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

It may be mentioned that an unexploded bomb was found on December 9 while piling at the construction site of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The bomb disposal team of Bangladesh Air Force defused the bomb with necessary equipment. The bomb was later sent to the Air Force Firing Range at Rasulpur in Tangail for demolition.

Since then, a bomb search team of the Bangladesh Air Force has been conducting regular bomb search operations at the construction site of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The fifth bomb was recovered by the Air Force on Wednesday 30 December.

Experts say the bomb is similar to the ones recovered on December 09, 14, 19 and 28. During the Liberation War, Pakistani soldiers planted these bombs.
