Fire Accident Fire at Khawaja Tower in Mohakhali, Woman dies after falling from building
Own correspondent, Dhaka, 27 October 2023: A woman died in a fire incident at Khawaja Tower in Amtali, Mohakhali of the capital. The name of the deceased woman is Hasna Hena (27). She worked in sales of an internet service company called Orbit in that building. His home is Gobindganj in Gaibandha.
Nazmul Huda, the deputy manager of the company, said on Thursday 26 October evening that Hasna Hena worked on the 9th floor. In the fear of fire, he grabbed a wire and fell down on top of the grill.
Besides, another salesman of the company, Mehdi Hasan, was injured. It is said that he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, the fire service received information about the fire on the 13th floor of the 14-storey building Khawaja Tower at 4:59 pm on Thursday. 7 platoon members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force have been deployed to control the fire. Earlier, Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force joined the fire service to control the fire at Khawaja Tower. Rozina Akhter, the duty officer of the fire service, gave this information. 11 units of fire service are working to control the fire. According to the latest information, the fire service is breaking the outer glass cover and window glass of various floors of Khawaja Tower with the help of TTL. At the same time it is seen whether there is fire and people on any floor.
In this regard, the duty officer of the control room of the fire service, Rafi Al Farooq, said that our 11 units are working to control the fire of Khawaja Tower. Two firefighting and rescue vehicles (TTL) equipped with ladders have been taken to the spot.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Public Relations of the Armed Forces ISPR said in a small message that a team of the Army, Navy and Air Force has joined the task of extinguishing the fire in Mohakhali. They will assist the fire service.
After the fire at Khawaja Tower, the traffic on both sides of the Amtali to Gulshan road number one has been stopped. It has created a traffic jam in the surrounding area. Besides, electricity supply has been stopped in the area as a precaution. As a result, the entire area has become dark. After the fire, many people in the building were seen gathering on the roof of the building in fear. There were also scenes of some people risking their way down the rope to the nearby building.
The fire service says that the building has offices of various private companies. Several people were rescued from inside the building and brought down. Initially, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage was not known.
