Dhaka, February 25: Another fire broke out at a Rohingya camp in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar. Four units of the fire service were deployed to control the fire. After trying for about an hour and a half, the fire came under control. The fire broke out at noon on Friday (February 25) in the area of Camp No. 7 next to the Kutupalong TV Tower in Ukhia.

Cox's Bazar Fire Service Station Officer Shahadat Hossain said that the fire had to be brought under control as the camp houses were adjacent. However, the amount of damage has not been determined yet.

Naimul Haque Naeem, commander of the 14th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) in charge of the camp, said seven to eight shops and several houses were burnt in the blaze. No information has yet been obtained about the onset of the fire.

Engineer Helal Uddin, a UP member engineer from Kutupalong area of ​​Rajapalang Union, said that a fire broke out at Rohingya Camp No. 16 in Ukhia on January 9. Although no casualties were reported, more than a thousand houses were set on fire. Earlier on January 2, a fire broke out at Corona Hospital run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (IOM) at Camp No. 20 in Balukhali. No one was injured in the blaze. However, 16 cabins of the hospital's isolation center were burnt down. Earlier, on March 22, 2021, at least 12 Rohingyas were killed in a fire at a camp in Balukhali, Ukhia. About 10 thousand houses were burnt down.
