Dhaka, May 27: There is a possibility of tidal wave on the coast even today. However, the water level will be slightly lower than yesterday (Wednesday). Besides, there is a danger of nor'westers in different parts of the country.

Meteorologist AKM Ruhul Quddus of the Meteorological Department confirmed the information to Dhaka Post on Thursday (May 27th).

He said tidal surges are likely in different parts of the coast in the next 24 hours. However, the water level will be lower than yesterday. May range from 2 to 4 feet, he added.

According to the meteorological office, most parts of Khulna, Barisal, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions and some parts of Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusts / thundershowers in the next 24 hours. There may also be moderate to heavy rains in some parts of the western part of the country.

Besides, day and night temperatures across the country may remain almost unchanged in the next 24 hours. The wind speed and direction in Dhaka this morning was from south-east / east to 15-20 km per hour, which was temporarily 40 km per hour. At 6 am, the relative humidity in Dhaka was 76 percent.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Yas, which is located in the North West Bay and adjoining areas, intensified and turned into a very strong cyclone. Moving north-northwest, it crossed the northern Orissa-West Bengal coast of India on 12 May from 12 noon to 3 pm, north of Damra and south of Balasore.

It later moved further north-northwest over the land and weakened into a strong cyclone, then a cyclone and a deep depression, which landed in Orissa and adjoining Jharkhand in India today (May 27) at 6 am. It may gradually weaken as it moves further north-northwest over land.
