Geneva: European Bangladesh Forum demonstrates seeking international recognition of 1971 genocide
Geneva, October 1: A joint team of European Bangladesh Forum and Switzerland Human Rights Commission Bangladesh held a demonstration in front of the Broken Chair, United Nations in Geneva, demanding international recognition of 1971 genocide, perpetuated by Pakistani forces.
According to reports, the said genocide killed between 2,00,000 and 30,00,000 people, while 2,00,000 to 4,00,000 Bengali women were raped by Pakistani soldiers, during the nine-month-long Bangladesh Liberation War.
A documentary film- War Crimes 1971- was also screened at the event, according to reports.
Demonstrators also held posters urging the international community to not recognise the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
