Own representative, Dhaka, December 6: If there is any scope for advanced treatment in abroad of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is being examined. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq made the remarks in response to a question from reporters after inaugurating a training program for judges at the Judicial Administration Training Institution in the capital on Sunday (December 5).

The law minister said, BNP chairperson's earlier request for medical treatment was disposed of expeditiously, but no decision has been taken yet on her treatment in abroad, now applications have come from many quarters. It seems that a decision should be taken after considering the overall aspect.

The law minister said the prime minister has always looked at the humanitarian aspect. Our point is that there should be no deviation from the law. This time, when many petitions have been received, from the lawyers as well, I think it is appropriate to come to a well-thought-out decision on whether something can be done after considering everything. That's why we are taking a little time.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been admitted to Bashundhara's Evercare Hospital since November 12. Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various complications including arthritis, diabetes, dental and eye problems for many years. She contracted the coronavirus last April. Earlier, Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on April 27 due to various physical complications. At that time she returned home on June 19 after 53 days of treatment.

Khaleda Zia went to jail on February 8, 2018 after being convicted in a corruption case. On March 25 last year, in the wake of the Corona epidemic, the released her on parole. So far, Begum Zia's release has been extended in three phases.
