HC instructs to form commission to find conspirators of Padma Bridge

Dhaka, June 28: The High Court has directed to set up a commission under the Inquiry Act 1965 (Section 3) to find out the conspirators behind the creation of false stories of corruption in the Padma Bridge construction deal. The court also asked the concerned parties to form a commission within a month and submit a report on the matter within two months.

The court asked the cabinet secretary, secretary of the foreign ministry, secretary of the ministry of law, justice and parliamentary affairs, the ACC chairman and the inspector general of police (IGP) to implement the order.

A bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Md Izarul Haque Akand passed the order on Tuesday (June 28) after hearing a rule on the formation of a commission to find out the conspirators behind the creation of a false story of corruption in the Padma Bridge construction deal.

Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik and Assistant Attorney General Anna Khanam Kali represented the state in the court. Senior lawyer Md Khurshid Alam Khan was in favor of the ACC. Advocate Abdun Nur Dulal, secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association, also appeared for the bridge authorities.

Earlier on Monday (June 27), the High Court heard a rule on the formation of a commission to find out the conspirators behind the creation of a false story of corruption in the Padma Bridge construction deal. The court passed the order after a further hearing on the rule today.
