Health Minister Maleque visits ferry fire victims at Burn Institute

Own representative, Dhaka, December 25: Five people, including a burnt child, have been brought to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery after a fire broke out on a moving launch on Sugandha river in Jhalokati. Health Minister Zahid Maleque visited the Burn Institute to see the burn victims on Friday (December 24) at around 6:00 pm.

The five burnt were Jasmine Akhter (35), her son Tanim Hasan (8), Bachchu Mia (50) and her daughter Sadia (20). The identity of the other has not yet been confirmed.

Earlier, at first two persons and  then three others were brought to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery after 3:00 pm on Friday.

Perth Shankar Pal, a resident surgeon at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said five people have come here so far in connection with the launch fire. Among them, 12 percent of Jasmine Akter's body and 30 percent of her son Tanim Hasan's were burnt. He also said that the condition of the son is critical and the condition of the mother is not without fear. Both of them have been admitted.
