Dhaka, January 27: The court has adjourned the hearing of two separate defamation cases against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for celebrating her 'fake' birthday and 'tarnishing' the liberation war. Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor's court gave this order on Thursday.

On this day, two cases were scheduled for hearing. But since Khaleda Zia was sick, lawyer Masood Ahmed Talukdar applied for time on her behalf. The court granted the application and set a new date. According to the report of the case filed for 'tainting' the liberation war, Khaleda Zia became the prime minister after being elected in alliance with the Jamaat in the 2001 parliamentary elections. He made the Razakar-Albadar leaders Minister-MP and handed over the map and national flag of independent Bangladesh to their houses and cars.

Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiqui filed a defamation case against Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on November 3, 2016. The court directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of Tejgaon police station to investigate the incident and take action.

On February 25 of the following year, Police Inspector Moshiur Rahman (Investigation) of Tejgaon Police Station in the capital submitted a report to the court stating that the allegations were found to be true. The other defendant in the case, BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, was acquitted as he was dead.

On the other hand, it is said in the case of 'fake' birthday celebrations, reports were published in two national dailies in 1997 about Khaleda Zia's multiple birthdays. According to the report, according to the SSC examination mark sheet, the date of birth of this former prime minister is September 5, 1946.

In 1991, when he was Prime Minister, a daily report on her biography listed her birthday as 19 August 1945. And the marriage certificate mentions the birthday as August 4, 1944. According to the latest machine readable passport in 2001, Khaleda Zia's birthday is August 5, 1946.

It is also said in the case complaint, that five birthdays of her have been found in various sources, but no information about his birthday on August 15 has been found anywhere. In this situation, she has been celebrating Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's death anniversary since 1996 without celebrating even one of the five birthdays, i.e. National Mourning Day (August 15) by cutting a cake.
