Hefazat-e-Islam to announce new committee today

Dhaka, June 7: About a month and a half after the announcement of the dissolution of the Hefazat-e-Islam committee, the organisation is going to announce a new committee on June 7.

Controversial leaders may be dropped from the committee, led by Junaid Babunagari and Nurul Islam Jihadi. Leaders who are in the 'grace' of the government can come to the leadership.

The committee will be officially announced at Makhjanul Uloom Madrasa in Khilgaon on Monday (June 7). Mir Idris, co-organising secretary of the defunct central committee, said this.

He said, "The new committee of Hefazat will be announced at Makhjanul Uloom Madrasa in Khilgaon in the capital on Monday. The committee is being formed with 40 members."

Asked who is getting a place in the committee, he said, "You will know that later. I cannot say anything now."

However, Hefazat sources said the new committee will have 38 members. Junaid Babunagari is being kept as Amir and Nurul Islam Jihadi is being kept as secretary general in the committee.

Maulana Ataullah Hafejji, Maulana Salauddin Nanupuri, Principal Mizanur Rahman, Maulana Muhibbul Haque (Sylhet), Maulana Ubaydur Rahman Mahbub (Barisal) and Shah Ahmad Shafi's eldest son Md. Yusuf have been appointed as Naib Amir.

However, Shah Ahmad Shafi's younger son Anas Madani and his followers and the newly dissolved Joint-Secretary General Mamunul Haque, Nasir Uddin Munir, Organizing Secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi, Central Leader Zakaria Noman Faizi, Khalid Saifullah Ayubi, Hasan Jamil, Mufti Harun Izhar Leaders are reportedly being dropped from the committee.
