Dhaka, April 22: Eid-ul-Fitr, the day of the biggest joyous festival in the Muslim world, is today (Saturday, April 22) after a long month of fasting.

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country today with enthusiasm after fasting for the entire month of Ramadan. Half a million people have already left the capital to share the joy of Eid with their loved ones.

Happiness, joy and love spread all around. Various types of delicious food including semolina, semai, polao, korma, pies, pithapuli will be cooked at home according to sadh and ability. Greetings are exchanged at the end of Eid prayers.

However, on the occasion of Eid celebration, arrangements have been made to serve high-quality food in all hospitals, prisons, government children's homes, old age homes, Chhotamoni homes, socially handicapped centers, shelters, safe homes, vagrant welfare centers, distressed welfare and drug addiction treatment centers in the country.

Bangladesh embassies and missions abroad will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr appropriately. On this occasion, special measures have been taken to maintain law and order situation in the whole country. Organized by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), the main Eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah next to the capital's High Court. President Md. Abdul Hamid offered Eid prayers at the National Eidgah. About 35,000 worshipers will participate in this Eidgah.

President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in separate messages have congratulated the countrymen on the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. Besides, the President will exchange Eid greetings with people from all walks of life at Banga Bhaban from 10 am to 11 am and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her residence Gano Bhaban at 10 am on Eid day. The country's largest Eid congregation was held at the historic Sholakia Maidan, a hundred-year tradition. Like every year, five Eid congregations were held at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram.

According to a press release of the Islamic Foundation, on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, like every year, five Eid congregations were held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The first congregation was held at 7 am. The imam will be Baitul Mukarram National Mosque senior Imam Hafez Mufti Maulana Md Mizanur Rahman and Qari Md Ishaq Muazzin will be the muqabbir.
