Own correspondent, Dhaka, 25 December 2023: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said that the polling agents will protect the balance inside the polling station. It will not happen if polling agent is not kept. Polling agents must be inside to make the election credible.
He said, after the election ended without keeping the polling agent, I was kicked out then it did not happen. If anyone is expelled then a complaint should be made to the presiding officer immediately. In case of failure to maintain balance, the presiding officer shall immediately stop the polling. I will vote for that center again, if necessary I will vote 10 times. The CEC said these things in the press briefing after exchanging views with the election-related people at the town hall of Mymensingh city on Sunday.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that each center will have 15 to 16 law enforcement personnel. Ansar and VDP will play an important role. There will be 12 of them, some of them will be armed. The center will have people from different forces. If there were only 12 policemen, the candidates could have beaten the police. But if there are 5 forces in the center, then no one can be touched. So there will be police, Ansar, BGB, RAB. And the army will be the striking force. So the part outside the center will be completely preserved.
CEC said that those who want to spread influence at the center will be punished, said OC, SP, DIG, IG whoever goes to the center, the game will be played but vote among the candidates. But the IG-DIG will not be able to enter the center. Only returning officers can enter the centre. If the presiding officer can maintain his authority at the centre. Then OC, UNO, SP, DIG, can do nothing.
