Dhaka, August 7: India's Disun Hospital will invest Tk 1,000 crore in the medical sector of Bangladesh. That is why they are looking at places in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Khulna, said Sajal Dutta, chairman and managing director of the hospital.

The 'ICC BIMSTEC Energy Conclave' jointly organized by the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) and the Indian Chamber of Commerce was inaugurated at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Sunday afternoon. Then Sajal Dutta said these in the press conference.

He said, "People go for treatment in India. One of the reasons is that good treatment is available at a fair price. Why Calcutta, Siliguri or West Bengal? Close, same language, same food and drink, same culture. So those who come to Bangladesh think of their home. If it went to another place, they might have had difficulty."

Disun Hospital Chairman Sajal Dutta said, "More than 50 percent of our patients, whom we call medical tourists, come from Bangladesh. I will invest in Bangladesh. Hospital is a big investment for long time service."

He said, "Bangladeshi patients come here with four problems. Cardiac, cancer, neuro and gastro problems. We are thinking of setting up this hospital on four priorities. So that such patients do not go out of Bangladesh."

The Chairman of Disun Hospital said, "Four places are being looked at for making a hospital in Bangladesh. We have targeted four places in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Khulna. But where will be not yet decided. Tk 1,000 crore will be invested for this."
