Dhaka, September 11: Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has hailed his recently concluded India visit as frutiful. During his trip, the lawmaker met with his Indian counpart, the country's External Affairs Minister, the aforementioned ministry's secretary, journalists, researchers and also took part in the inauguration of Bangabandhu Corner at the Press Club of India in New Delhi.

He told reporters at the minister's residence on Minto Road in the capital on Friday (September 10) morning that the inauguration of the Bangabandhu Media Corner at the Press Club of India was a milestone in bilateral relations. A complete portrait of Bangabandhu has also been placed there.

Talking to Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar about the coronavirus situation and vaccine management, the minister said, "The Indian foreign minister has said that vaccine production has been disrupted due to shortage of foreign raw materials, which they will overcome in October-December. Hopefully, if vaccine production in India is strengthened, they will be able to supply contract vaccines to Bangladesh."

Besides, the information minister also discussed with the foreign minister and secretary about investment in the economic zone of Bangladesh.

Discussing the overall issues with Indian Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "We discussed the progress of Bangabandhu's biopic, the commencement of work under our Liberation War-based film-making agreement and the 50th anniversary of India-Bangladesh alliance. We have also informed the Minister of Information and Broadcasting of India about the strict enforcement of the law on clean feeds on foreign TVs from October 1."

He said the visit would further strengthen the ties between the two countries and its citizens.

Meanwhile, responding to BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's remarks about the 'Awami League being a torturing party', the Information Minister said, "BNP's politics is based on torture, blood, corpses and people. Mr. Fakhrul formed a party whose leader seized power by standing on the blood of the people, was deeply involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu, killed thousands of army personnel and ruled the country by standing on their corpses. Thousands of Awami League leaders and activists were also killed at that time. After that, the remarks of Fakhrul Sahib under the leadership of Khaleda Zia- who killed innocent people by throwing petrol bombs on them, tortured people in the name of blockade day after day- is applicable to them.
