Dhaka, August 4: Bangladesh is seeing a lack of interest from the concerned countries in returning Bangabandhu's self-confessed killers Rashed Chowdhury and Noor Chowdhury, who fled to the United States and Canada. These two countries are not interested in addressing the issue in the political process.

Spokesperson Seheli Sabrin said this at the weekly briefing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday. On the question of how far is the progress of returning the killers of Bangabandhu, she said the activities of Bangladesh and the position of the United States and Canada.

The spokesperson said that all efforts are being made to bring back the murderers Rashed Chowdhury and Noor Chowdhury. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been demanding the return of the murderers directly and through the Bangladesh Embassy and High Commission in those countries. Bangladesh's legitimate claim is recalled in all bilateral discussions. It is said that the impunity of the offender not only obstructs access to justice but also grossly violates human rights in access to justice.

Seheli Sabrin said, "It is regrettable that these self-confessed murderers are avoiding the punishment of the crime by shielding the law. Neither country showed any interest in addressing the issue of their return in a political process. The US and Canadian foreign affairs departments have always said it is a matter for their judiciary or related legal process."

Spokesperson Seheli said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue all efforts in this regard until the demand for the lives of people from all walks of life in Bangladesh is met.
