Khaleda Zia admitted to hospital

Dhaka, April 28: BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital with coronavirus. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "Madam is in very good condition. She needs more tests so she will be in the hospital tonight."

Asked if there were any complications in Coronavirus, he said, "No, there are no complications."

According to hospital sources, Khaleda Zia underwent several tests including CT scan, ultrasonogram and echo-ECG till 12 midnight. She was admitted to the hospital at night for various tests. She is undergoing treatment in a 7203 room on the seventh floor under Professor Dr. Md. Shahabuddin Talukder, a cardiologist.

Earlier, at 9.35 pm on Tuesday, she left her residence 'Firoza' in Gulshan for the hospital and arrived at the hospital around 10:10 pm. Fatema, a housemaid, was with her at the time.

Her medical board doctors Dr Zahid Hossain, Dr Al Mamun and Dr FM Siddiqui and BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir were also present at the hospital.

Earlier, Khaleda Zia's personal doctor Dr Zahid Hossain said, "Madam is being taken to the hospital for some physical examination."

Last Saturday, Khaleda Zia's second coronavirus test report came back positive, her doctor Dr FM Siddiqui told the media, adding that she needed some more tests.

Khaleda Zia underwent a CT scan at Evercare Hospital on the night of April 14. Her personal doctors then said, "Khaleda Zia's lungs have a very slight infection in the CT scan, which does not really fall into the mild stage. So new antibiotics are added to Khaleda Zia's previous medicine."

Earlier on April 11, coronavirus was detected in Khaleda Zia's body. Eight other personal staff of his residence Firoza were also affected. At present, four people, including her, are affected by the coronavirus.
