Khaleda Zia gets 6 months bail in defamation cases
Dhaka, June 18: BNP chief Khaleda Zia has received six months bail in two defamations cases filed against her.
Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Kashefa Hussain passed the order on Tuesday after hearing a bail petition filed by Khaleda’s lawyers, bdnews24.
“Both the cases are bailable. But we had to come to the High Court as the lower court denied her bail. The High Court has granted six-month bail in each of the cases,” Khaleda’s legal adviser Moudud Ahmed was quoted as saying by the news portal after the order.
However, she will not be released from prison.
She is convicted in two corruption cases.
Khaleda had served as the PM of Bangladesh in her career.
