LPG price rises again

Dhaka, December 5: The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has increased again in just one month. At the consumer level, the price of LPG has been increased by Tk 3.83 per kg, which is 3.68 percent higher than last November.

According to the new price, the price of 12 kg LPG cylinder has increased from Tk 1,251 to Tk 1,297. The new prices will be effective from next Wednesday at 6 pm.

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Abdul Jalil announced the new price in a press conference on a virtual platform on Sunday (November 4).

The press conference said that Saudi Aramco's announced Saudi CP (contract price) of propane and butane for the month of November is USD 610 and USD 610 per metric ton, respectively. It increased to USD 650 in December. BERC has set this price considering the average Saudi CP of propane and butane at USD 650 per metric ton for propane and butane ratio of 35:65.

Commission Chairman Abdul Jalil said that compared to last November, the price of LPG in the international market has increased by 6.55 percent. Our increase is 3.68 percent.

Meanwhile, the commission has fixed the price of autogas at Tk 60.41 per liter for the month of December, which was Tk 58.28 in the last month of November.

It was informed in the press conference that apart from the 12 kg cylinder, the price of all cylinders starting from 5 and a half kg to 45 kg has been increased. However, the price of 12.5 kg cylinder has not changed at the government level. It remains at the pre-fixed price of Tk 591.
