Dhaka, June 15: The Panamanian flagship MV Franco Lohas has arrived at the port of Mongla carrying cargo from the country's largest railway bridge. At 4 pm on Monday, a foreign ship carrying goods from the railway bridge built by the side of Bangabandhu Bridge anchored.

Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, chairman of the Mongla Port Authority, said goods for the Bangabandhu Railway Bridge come from Vietnam. Goods are unloaded at the port's jetty number seven. He also said that the machinery will unload these products within 24 hours.

The ship's local shipping agent Hawk & Sons Khulna manager. Shawkat Ali said 3,288 tonnes of steel pipes and piles came to Bangabandhu Railway Bridge by foreign ships at noon. It was later unloaded by local workers.

Construction of the railway bridge over the Jamuna River began in November 2020. The cost of the longest railway bridge with a length of 4.8 meters has been estimated at Tk 16,781 crore.
