Dhaka, Jan 5: BNP has called a strike on the day of polling for the 12th National Assembly elections.

According to the party's new programme, they will observe a 48-hour hartal from 6 am tomorrow on Saturday to 6 am on Monday 8 January. Among them, the voting for the 12th National Parliament election will be held on Sunday (January 7). However, the law and order forces say that any attempt to prevent or discourage voting on polling day will be dealt with according to the law.

Police, RAB, BGB, Battalion Ansar, APBN and Coast Guard have been deployed across the country since December 29 to deal with the overall law and order situation. These law enforcement agencies will act as a striking force to protect security. Besides, the armed forces have entered the field since the last Wednesday.

When asked about the strike on the polling day, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin told Jago News, "Those who obstruct the fair and peaceful voting will be dealt with according to the law. Besides, action will be taken based on intelligence information for those who discourage voting."
