Metro rail: Bangladesh touches four milestones in technology

Dhaka, December 29: Bangladesh has simultaneously achieved four milestones in technology with the inauguration of much-awaited Dhaka metro rail.

First of all, the metro rail itself is a mile marker. Secondly, Bangladesh entered the era of the first electric vehicles. Third, digital remote control vehicle, which is a step towards building a smart Bangladesh. Fourthly, Bangladesh has entered the era of high-speed vehicles, which will run at a speed of 110 km per hour.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing the chief guest at the rally after inaugurating the metro rail on the grounds of 'C' Block, Sector 15, Uttara of the capital on Wednesday (December 28).

She said, "Another feather in development is metro rail. Another new feather of pride has been added to the crown of the people of Bangladesh."

Earlier in the morning, the Prime Minister went to Diabari in Uttara to inaugurate the metro rail along with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana. The PM inaugurated this large infrastructure in the country's communication system in the field of 'C' block of sector 15 of Uttara at 11 o'clock. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was present on the occasion. After the rally, the head of government travelled by metro rail with her younger sister.

Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader, Secretary of Roads and Highways Department ABM Aminullah Noori, MD of Metrorail Company MN Siddique and other government officials were present during the inauguration.
