Agriculture Minister Middlemen in agriculture sector will be destroyed: Agriculture Minister
Dhaka, Jan 18: Agriculture Minister Md. Abdus Shahid has warned that middlemen will be destroyed to control the price of agricultural products in the country.
He gave this warning while talking to reporters at the secretariat on Wednesday. Earlier, Achim Troster, the ambassador of Germany appointed in Dhaka, met the minister.
The agriculture minister said, "We want to use the technology which can destroy the middlemen if followed. We want to do market study for consumers. Market monopoly or oligopoly should be seen and action should be taken. But now no deadline can be given."
He said, "In how many days it will be possible to bring the syndicate under control, there is no opportunity to give a deadline. But as many sectors as there are to regulate the market, all will come together and take a coordinated action. We want to implement the matter with the instructions of the Prime Minister. It is not possible to stab people in the chest for more profit. Assistance of market experts will be taken for market control."
The minister said, "Our goal is to move forward. Farmers should be encouraged to adopt advanced technology farming systems going forward. There are many scientists here, we want to use them."
