Moon sighted on Friday, Bangladesh to celebrate Eid today

Dhaka, April 22: The moon of the month of Shawwal was seen in the sky on Friday evening. Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated on Saturday (April 22). This decision was taken at the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee on Friday evening at the meeting room of the Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram of the capital. The meeting was chaired by Chand Dekha Committee President and Minister of State for Religious Affairs Md. Faridul Haque Khan.

This time, the holy month of fasting for Muslims Ramadan has ended in 29 days. Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on the first day of Shawwal after Hijri Ramadan.

The state minister said in the meeting that according to the information received from all district administrations, Islamic Foundation head office, divisional and district offices, meteorological department, space research and remote sensing center, the moon of Shawwal month of Hijri 1444 was seen in the sky of Bangladesh. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country on the first day of Shawwal on Saturday.

After fasting for a long month, the Muslims of the country are now waiting to enjoy the joy of Eid. All the preparations for the Eid Jamaat all over the country including the capital Dhaka have already been completed. The holy Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated on Friday in Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, due to the sighting of the moon of the month of Shawwal. Meanwhile, Eid was being celebrated in various villages of Chittagong, Satkhira, Madaripur, Barisal, Jamalpur, Madaripur, Munshiganj, Jhenaidah, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Kurigram, Feni, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Lalmonirhat and other districts of the country on Friday in coordination with Saudi Arabia.

A large number of people have left the capital by rail, road and sea to share the joy of Eid with their loved ones at home in the village. The capital is already empty.

This time, the main Eid congregation will be held at 8:30 am at the National Eidgah in the Supreme Court premises. On the other hand, as always, five congregations of Eid-ul-Fitr prayers will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
