Dhaka, November 14: Four days have passed yet the Myanmar Border Security Force (BGP) did not return the 9 Bangladeshi fishermen who were taken away while fishing in the Naf River in the Bay of Bengal. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members contacted them to bring them back, but there was no response from the BGP. As a result, there is anxiety among the relatives of the abducted fishermen.

On Tuesday (November 10) morning, the BGP captured nine Bangladeshi fishermen from the mouth of the Naf River and the Bay of Bengal. They were reportedly taken to the Hachurta border post in Myanmar.

Those 9 fishermen are- Nurul Alam, a boatman from Shahpari Island area, Md. Yunus, Saiful Islam, Elias, Md. Alam, Chhalim Ullah, Nur Kamal, Md. Syed and Saiful Islam.

The abducted Md. Alam's mother Hasina Begum said, "I lost my husband in a trawler accident while fishing in the sea last year. The boy who went fishing on Tuesday was also taken away by the Myanmar army. Now we are helpless. I am seeking the help of the government to get the boy back. May everyone, including my son, come back soon."

Trawler owner Mohammad Amin said his trawler's engine broke down on its way back from fishing at the mouth of the Naf River and the Bay of Bengal. At that time, the members of Myanmar Border Guard Force came with a boat and took the trawler to their border.

"We immediately informed the BGB and the Coast Guard about the matter through other fishermen."

Teknaf 2 BGB captain Lieutenant Colonel Md. Faisal Hasan Khan said, "The BGP has been contacted for a flag meeting to get back the captured fishermen. No final response has been received from them yet. However, the BGB is to trying to get the fishermen back quickly."
