New Market Clash New Market clash: Killed courier deliveryman Nahid's father lodges case
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, April 21: The father of courier deliveryman Nahid Hasan, who was killed during a clash between traders and Dhaka College students at New Market area, has filed a murder case.
Sharif Mohammad Farooquzzaman, Assistant Commissioner (AC), New Market Zone, DMP's Ramna Division, confirmed the information to Jago News on Thursday (April 21) at around 12:20 am.
He said Nahid's father Md. Nadim Hossain has filed a murder case with the New Market police station against 'unknown' persons. A lawsuit has been filed so far over the incident. There could be two more cases.
AC Sharif Mohammad Farooquzzaman said that the work of identifying the accused has already started after examining the CCTV footage of the incident. Those involved in Nahid's murder will be brought to justice soon.
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of New Market Police Station, Sham Qayyum, told Jago News that a total of three cases will be registered in connection with the clashes between Dhaka College students and New Market traders. The police will file two suo-motto cases while the family of the deceased will file another case.
The OC said the police will file two cases against the accused for allegedly assaulting the police and obstructing them from performing their duties. The case is in the process of being written. The case will be entered at night.
It is learned that Nahid was the eldest of three sons in his family. He chose the path of income at the age of 10 to earn bread for his family. He was then working in a clothing store. Before being killed, he was working as a deliveryman in a courier company.
On the day of the incident, on Tuesday (April 19), he was going to his workplace from his home in Kamrangir Char area. Nahid was killed in the clash. An autopsy revealed several wounds on his body. It is clear that he was attacked and brutally assaulted.
