Dhaka, Jan 10: MPs elected to the 12th National Parliament have taken oath.

The swearing-in ceremony began at 10 am on Wednesday (January 10). After the other activities, the members recited the oath. Later, they were asked to sign the affidavit. They were asked to sign the Register of the Parliament as the next step. After taking the oath, the new MPs signed the oath form in front of the Speaker.

According to the constitution, MPs are required to take oath within three days of publication of the gazette. Accordingly, the Speaker of the 11th Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury administered the oath to the newly elected members of Parliament.

Before the oath of the MPs, Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury took the oath as an MP herself according to the constitution and rules of procedure and will sign the oath book.

Earlier appearing in the parliament building, Liberation War Affairs Minister A K M Mozammel Haque said that our goal is to build a smart, hunger and poverty free and Bangabandhu's dream of Sonar Bangla.

Nilphamari-2 (Sadar) Constituency MP Asaduzzaman Noor said, "We will work to implement the manifesto announced by Bangladesh Awami League. We will work to implement the Prime Minister's promise, that is our goal."
