Dhaka, June 19: Militants are not sitting quietly, there is nothing to worry about thinking that militancy is over. They are "horribly active" on social media, said Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) chief Additional IGP SM Ruhul Amin. This information has come up in cyber online patrolling of Anti-Terrorism Unit. He said these things in the speech of the main discussant in the workshop titled 'Role of media in preventing extremism, militancy and violent extremism'.

The workshop was organized at the Multipurpose Hall of the Police Staff College in Mirpur of the capital on Monday. In this day-long workshop, he also said, "The information obtained from the interrogation of the arrested through various operations and online patrolling is also terrible. In fact, there is no reason to think that the militants are not sitting, as we are at peace for now, that the militants are over."

The ATU chief said, "Media workers have an opportunity to make the public aware of the activities of online militants, how a young person gets involved in militancy, without understanding the dangers and horrors of it." He said, "Police journalist relations are important. What does the police want? From the police's point of view, it can be said that without the media, the police have no chance to work. The police want positive things to come up in the media."

Additional IGP SM Ruhul Amin said, "We conduct workshops on new ideas and concepts of the police. So that the image of the police is helpful in front of the people. We work to create public safety and awareness. There is no special difference between the media and the police in this area. Let the crime be reduced. Everyone wants to ensure the safety of the people."

He said, "Police-journalist relations are complicated at times. However, freedom of information has been ensured. Article 7 provides information for the sake of upholding independence and sovereignty. If we all work from a place of love for the country, nothing harmful will happen to the society." If the media keeps these things in mind while reporting the news, there should be no problem. In the free flow of news, no organization has a chance to protect its image without the help of the media."

Two things happen in information sharing, "One we give, one you do on the ground. One such thing was during the attack on Holy Artisan. Due to the work of the media persons, the militants knew the location of the law enforcement agencies from the inside." He thinks that caution should be taken in these cases.
