Dhaka, January 16: Currently the total number of voters in the country is 11 crore 90 lakh 61 thousand 158. The number of voters has increased by 5.10 percent (57 lakh 74 thousand 148).

Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Secretary Jahangir Alam shared this information in a press conference on Sunday.

He said that the total number of voters in the country is 11 crore 90 lakh 61 thousand 158. Among them, 6 crore 3 lakh 83 thousand 112 are male voters, 5 crore 86 lakh 77 thousand 209 are women voters and 837 are third gender voters. Total voters till March 2, 2022, were 11 crore 32 lakh 87 thousand 10. Among them, 5 crore 76 lakh 89 thousand 529 were male voters, 5 crore 55 lakh 97 thousand 27 were female voters, and 454 were third gender voters.

The number of voters added to the update in 2022 is 78 lakh 83 thousand 277. Among them, 40 lakh 72 thousand 455 are men, 39 lakh 10 thousand 439 are women, and 383 are from the third gender community. The number of voters cut off in the update of that year is 22 lakh 9 thousand 129. Among them, 13 lakh 78 thousand 872 are male, and 8 lakh 30 thousand 257 are women.

EC completed data collection and registration in four stages from May 20 to November 20 last year. The updated draft list is released as per the pre-announced time (January 15). It is publicly displayed at various public places so that anyone has an opportunity to correct the application if there is a mistake.

In this case, the last time to apply for claims, objections or corrections is January 31. That means there is 16 days time for claim, objection or correction. The revisional authority will dispose of the petition by February 7. The updated final list will be published on March 2 after the disposal of applications.
