EC Number of voters increased by 58 lakh 64 thousand in one year
Dhaka, March 3: After updating the list across the country, the number of voters has increased to 58 lakh 64 thousand 430. According to that, the total number of voters in the country has increased to 11 crore 91 lakh 51 thousand 440 people. This year the voter growth rate is 5.18 percent.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal released the final voter list in front of the election hall at Agargaon in the capital on Thursday. On March 2, 2022, the number of voters in the country was 11 crore 32 lakh 87 thousand 10 people. At the same time of this year, this number has increased to 11 crore 91 lakh 51 thousand 440 people.
According to the Election Commission, 80 lakh 73 thousand 559 people have been included in the 2022 update. And dead voters have been deducted 22 lakh 9 thousand 129. Out of 11 crore 91 lakh 51 thousand 440 voters, there are 6 crore 4 lakh 45 thousand 724 male voters and 5 crore 87 lakh 4 thousand 879 female voters. Besides, there are 837 third gender voters.
Before the release of voter list, CEC, EC officials along with other commissioners organized a rally on the occasion of Voter's Day. Which starts from in front of election building, PSP intersection, BNP market intersection and ends in front of election building.
The EC completed the collection and registration of voter updates in four phases from May 20 to November 20 of last year. The updated draft list is released as per the pre-announced time (January 15). It has been put up publicly in various public places, so that if there is any mistake in the information, one can get it corrected by applying. In this case, the last time to apply for claims, objections or corrections was January 31 of this year.
That is, the time for claim, objection or correction was 16 days. The updated final list was released on Thursday after the revising authority disposed of the petition.
