Offices, courts reopen after Eid vacation

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 12: On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the three-day holiday of government officials and employees ended on Monday (July 11). Office-courts, bank-insurance and stock market are opening on Tuesday (July 12).

The holy Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated in the country on Sunday (July 10). July 9, 10 and 11 (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) were public holidays on the occasion of Eid. The day before the Eid holiday was a weekly holiday on Friday. Thursday was the last working day before Eid. As such, the employees have joined offices today after four consecutive days of Eid holiday. Banks, insurance, stock market and private companies have reopened.

However, many government and non-government workers who have gone outside Dhaka to celebrate Eid have taken optional leave on July 12 and 13. As a result, it will take next Sunday (July 16) for the office-courts to resume its activities in full swing. At that time the capital can return to normal.

Meanwhile, banks were also open in different areas on Friday and Saturday, the last weekend before Eid. During those two days, bank transactions took place at the branches of Dhaka North and South City Corporation's Pashur Hat adjacent to the capital from 10 am to 8 pm. The central bank had given this instruction to facilitate the smooth transaction of the traders of Kurbani cattle market.

Besides, banks were also open in the industry-related areas on Friday and Saturday to facilitate the payment of salaries, bonuses and other allowances to the workers, employees and officials working in the garment industry.
