Dhaka, April 24: Government offices, courts, banks and financial institutions reopened on today (Monday) after the five-day holiday of Eid. The offices will run on the previous schedule of Ramadan, i.e., from 9 am to 4 pm.

Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, was celebrated in the country on Saturday after a month of fasting. On the occasion of Eid, the government officials and employees have been spending holidays since April 19. Their vacation ended on Sunday, April 23.

This time, the offices were open on April 20 (Thursday) before the Eid holiday started after Shab-e-Qadr holiday. Along with the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, the government announced an additional day as a general holiday. Basically, the government arranged a five-day holiday with one extra day to facilitate the travel of those who are going to celebrate Eid with their loved ones who are far away.

About one crore people leave the capital to share the joy of Eid with their relatives in the villages. People of various classes and professions have already started returning to the capital to work on Monday. Like other years, many will return to office directly on Monday.

Every year the government changes the office schedule which means Ramadan. Like other years, this year also in the month of Ramzan, the officers and employees of the government, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions worked from 9 am to 3:30 pm. The office will return to the pre-Ramadan schedule from Monday. The government offices will run from 9 am to 4 pm.

On April 11, the Ministry of Public Administration announced that after Eid, the offices of all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous organizations in the country will be open from 9 am to 4 pm from Sunday to Thursday. There will be weekend holidays on Friday and Saturday.

Emergency services will be outside the new office schedule. The notification also informed that the office schedule of Bangladesh Supreme Court, banks, insurance and other financial institutions will be determined by their respective authorities.
