Officials sound alarm in Sundarbans asking residents to move out amidst Cyclone Mocha scare

Dhaka, May 12: Mongla Coast Guard West Zone has made all preparations to deal with Cyclone Mocha. They sounded safety instructions from 14 stations along the coast since Friday (May 12) morning.

According to related sources, sailors, fishermen and sailors of domestic and foreign commercial ships plying in the channel of the Bay of Bengal, Sundarbans rivers and Mongla port are being asked to move safely to avoid damage from the cyclone. The Coast Guard campaign will continue till the end of the cyclone.

Coast Guard West Zone (Mongla) Operational Officer Lt. Commander Tarek Ahmed said that warning and awareness campaigns are being conducted along the Sundarbans coast. Coast Guard high speed boats and ships have been kept ready for post-cyclone rescue operations. He also said that the medical team has been kept ready for adequate food items and treatment.
