One arrested in Dhaka with fake currency notes worth rupees half a lakh

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 22: Police from Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Kamrangirchar Police Station have arrested a man from Madbar Bazaar area of the capital with counterfeit currency notes worth rupees half a lakh.

The name of the arrested person is Md. Khokon Hawladar, a resident of Rajapur in Jhalokati.

Kamrangirchar Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mostafizur Rahman said this on Friday (January 21).

He said Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Ashraful Haque, who was on duty in Kamrangirchar police station area, got the news that a man was standing in front of BBQ restaurant in Madbar Bazaar with counterfeit currency notes. On the basis of the information, he rushed to the area with his force. The man was arrested when he tried to flee after realizing the presence of police. At that time, the policemen recovered counterfeit notes worth Rs 61,500 from his possession.

The OC further said that after reviewing the records of the police station, it was found that the arrested man was an accused in the cases filed at Cox's Bazar's Ukhia, DMP's Platoon Model and Kamrangirchar Police Stations. The police official said legal action is being taken against the man at Kamrangirchar Police Station.
