Over 1.5 lakh workers have gone abroad in four months

Dhaka, November 11: At present, the rate of migration of workers has increased. From July to October, more than one and a half lakh workers have travelled abroad for employment. Moreover, demand for recruitment of workers is constantly coming from different countries.

This was stated by Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed at the 14th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment held on Wednesday (November 10) afternoon.

The Minister for Expatriates' Welfare said that the rate of foreign employment has returned to its previous level. He hoped that if this trend continues, the foreign employment targets will be met. The minister also said that although the remittance flow has slowed down, it will be up soon.

The meeting was chaired by Anisul Islam Mahmud MP, Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment. Committee members Moazzem Hossain Ratan MP, Mrinal Kanti Das MP, Pankaj Nath MP and Sadek Khan MP were present. Besides, Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Ahmed Munirush Salehin was present at the meeting.

After the meeting, Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed handed over the annual report of the ministry for the fiscal year 2020-21 to the chairman and members of the committee.
