Parliamentary committee recommends effective measures to prevent rumours and untruths

Dhaka, October 1: In addition to social media, the parliamentary committee has recommended effective measures to prevent rumours and untrue/fake news in various media. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been asked to take action in this regard. The recommendation was made at the ninth meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting held at the Parliament House on Thursday (September 30).

Committee members and Information and Broadcasting Minister Mohammad Hasan Mahmud, Kazi Keramat Ali, Begum Simin Hossain (Rimi) and Mohammad Ebadul Karim took part in the meeting chaired by committee chairman Hasanul Haque Inu. After the meeting, the chairman of the committee informed the journalists about this.

Today's meeting discussed the minutes of the eighth meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the progress made in implementing the decisions. The meeting also reviewed the ongoing activities of Bangladesh Film and Television Institute and National Media Institute.

The meeting recommended making quality programs on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Independence and Mujib Year and taking measures to get feedback from the audience.

Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md. Maqbool Hossain; Director General of Bangladesh Television Sohrab Hossain; Ahmed Kamruzzaman, Director General of Bangladesh Betar; Shahin Islam, Director General of the National Media Institute; Chief Information Officer (A.D.) of the Information Department Md. Shahenur Miah and other senior officials of the ministry were present.
