People, vehicles crossing Padma River on ferry without suffering

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 15: At Daulatdia Ghat, the pressure of people to return to work continues today even on Friday. But there is no queue of vehicles. As a result passengers are crossing the Padma without suffering. Vehicles are also passing smoothly.

According to the sources related to the ghat, the pressure of passengers and vehicles has increased after the Eid holiday. As a result, passengers and vehicles are crossing with a sufficient number of ferries. Vehicles can reach the ferry without waiting. There will be pressure of Dhaka-bound passengers and vehicles at the ferry ghat till Saturday.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Daulatdia Ghat Manager Shihab Uddin said that currently 16 ferries are plying on the Daulatdia-Paturia route. Among those, there are 9 big Ro-Ro ferries, six small utility ones and one Dhaka ferry. In the last 24 hours, 3,429 vehicles, including 721 buses, 505 trucks, 1,421 small cars and 782 motorcycles, have crossed the river using Daulatdia Ghat.
