Dhaka, Oct 9: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina termed the new BCS officers as 'the main soldiers of building Smart Bangladesh in 2041' and urged them to ensure continuous and sustainable development of the country.

She told the new BCS officials, "You have to be vigilant so that every development of the country is continuous and sustainable, for which specific plans have to be worked on."

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing the chief guest at the certificate distribution and closing ceremony of the 75th basic training course of BCS officers at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday.

She inaugurated the buildings and 'Government Employment Management System-GEMS' software constructed under 5 projects and programmes under the Ministry of Public Administration from the event.

Stating that she has no desire in her personal life, Hasina said, "We have only one desire, one dream, which my father saw for the people of this country. Changing people's destiny and improving their quality of life. As much as I have done so far for the future, that is my only request to everyone."

She said that by working day and night, Bangladesh should not lag behind the place where it is today.

The Prime Minister said, "Today we are facing global economic recession, inflation, some problems. Many people talk about reserves - I say there is nothing to worry about reserves. We don't care as long as I have food in my shell."

Reiterating his call to bring every inch of uncultivated land under cultivation, she said, "We will grow our crops, eat our own food, we will do little if not shopping or spending. But we have to go on with the dignity of my own country."

She said, "Today's officials will be the main craftsmen and soldiers of Bangladesh in 41. We will not be there then. But let the country move forward. I just want that.

The Prime Minister handed over 'Medha Sanad' to 30 meritorious students out of 602 students of 19 Cadre Services who successfully completed the course and distributed 'Dignity Medal' to three."

Tahsin Binte Anis won the Rector's Medal for topping the 75th Basic Training Course held for six months.
