PM Hasina reaches Paris, urges UK expats to work towards Bangladesh's welfare

Dhaka, November 10: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the expatriate Bangladeshis in the UK to work for the welfare of the country and its people.

"You (expatriate Bangladeshis in the UK) have to work for the welfare of your own country and its people," she told expatriates in the UK who had gathered in front of her Palace of Residence in London to bid her farewell. According to Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, she hopes to join them in the event after the Covid-19 pandemic eases.

The Prime Minister left her Palace of Residence for Heathrow International Airport on her way to Paris, the capital of France. Later, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached the French capital Paris from London on Tuesday afternoon.

Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said a VVIP flight (BG-2106) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport at 11:20 am (local time) on Tuesday. At the airport, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Bangladesh Ambassador to France Khondker Mohammad Talha and the head of local administration.

Later, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was accorded a warm welcome at the Elysee Palace, the official residence of French President Emmanuel Macron. She was also greeted by the French President upon arriving at there.

The Prime Minister was given a red carpet reception and a guard of honor by the President's Guard Regiment after which she visited the guards.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the French President held private talks and in the presence of both the two countries will sign various memoranda of understanding and agreements on mutual cooperation.

Earlier on November 3, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in London from Glasgow after attending the World Leaders Summit COP-26 and other events. On October 31, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Glasgow on a two-week visit to the United Kingdom and France.
