Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Sept 10: Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud commented that the Prime Minister's visit to India was successful and fruitful.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to India has been very successful and fruitful. The biggest achievement is the opportunity to use India's land to export Bangladesh's garment products to third countries duty-free, which Bangladesh has been striving for many years.

The Information Minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the cheque distribution ceremony of Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust organized by Chittagong Journalist Union (CUJ) at S Rahman Hall of Chittagong Press Club on Friday (September 9).

He said that the BNP has said various things about the Prime Minister's visit to India, but now it must have gone silent. Even so, Fakhrul Saheb will say something nowadays. But the Prime Minister's visit has been very fruitful.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, our relationship with India is based on fairness. Our government has taken everything from India. In 1974 the Enclave Agreement was signed. No one could bring that enclave to our possession in four decades. They could not say which country they were from. Sheikh Hasina's government has brought the enclaves into our possession. It is great proof that the relationship is based on justice, we have won the maritime boundary by suing India in the international court.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, out of thousands of products in Bangladesh, India has given us tariff benefits except for only 20 products including drugs, which BNP could not collect. Khaleda Zia went to India and forgot to talk about our Ganga water sharing. Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina also earned that.
