Pranay Kumar Verma to be appointed as India's next Ambassador to Bangladesh

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 13: Pranay Kumar Verma is going to be the next High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh. He will replace Vikram Doraiswami. On the other hand, it is learned that Vikram Doraiswami is going to take charge of his country's mission in the UK. Pranay Kumar Verma is currently serving as India's Ambassador to Vietnam.

Earlier, Indian media had reported that Sudhakar Dalela could come to Bangladesh as the new Indian High Commissioner. However, he will now be appointed as India's High Commissioner to Bhutan.

Dalela joined the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in 1993. He is currently the Deputy Chief of Mission for the Indian Mission in the United States. He was also employed in the Prime Minister's Office of India.

On the other hand, Prannay Kumar Verma served as the Director General of the East Asia Division of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. Prior to that, he worked in Atomic Energy as India's nuclear diplomat. He joined the Foreign Service in 1994. As an Indian diplomat, he has worked in Hong Kong, San Francisco, Washington DC and Kathmandu.

Vikram Doraiswami joined as Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka on October 5, 2020, replacing Riva Ganguly Das. Doraiswami joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1992. He has previously served as the country's ambassador to Uzbekistan and South Korea. Prior to that, he served in various capacities in Indian diplomatic missions in Hong Kong, Beijing, New York and Johannesburg.
