Preparations to open educational institutions will begin in January: PM Hasina

Dhaka, December 31: Educational institutions have been closed for a long time due to the coronavirus situation. Therefore, preparations for the opening of the educational institution will start from January, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said.

She made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the Textbook Distribution Festival-2021 on Thursday (December 31). Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain, Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, members of Parliamentary Standing Committees of the two ministries Afsarul Amin and Mostafizur Rahman were present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister said, "Students have been suffering a lot at home for a long time due to the closure of educational institutions."

"The second wave of coronavirus started due to winter. That's why we backed away from the decision to reopen educational institutions earlier."

She said, "It has been decided to re-open the educational institution. Preparations will start from January. Let's see what the situation is. The final decision will be taken on that."

The education minister said that despite the closure of educational institutions, the teaching program has been continued through parliamentary television and online. Assignment activities have been introduced in every school to achieve the learning outcomes of the students. 85 percent students have participated in it.

"Even though the educational institutions are closed, all our work for the progress of education is continuing," she said. The long-stuck education law has been finalized.

Dr. Dipu Moni said, "We are continuing our efforts to develop the body and mind of the students through up-to-date education system including digitization of scholarship activities."

The state minister for primary and mass education said new textbooks would be distributed to all government primary schools in compliance with the health rules. The book distribution work will be completed in three steps.

Later new books were handed over to the students through virtual. At this time 3 secretaries of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and heads of subordinate departments were present.
