President calls on BGB to be more active in stopping border killings

Dhaka, May 24: President Md. Sahabuddin urged Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB to be more active in stopping smuggling, drug and border killings. BGB Director General Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan made this call when he paid a courtesy call on the President at Bangabhaban on Wednesday afternoon.

President's Press Secretary Md Zainal Abedin told the media that during the meeting, the BGB chief briefed the President about the operational activities of this force.

Meanwhile, the President praised the responsible role of BGB in protecting the country's 4,427 km border. Besides, he ordered to work on zero tolerance policy to prevent the infiltration of drugs.

Referring to the upcoming national elections, the President said that the BGB should be on maximum alert to prevent any kind of intrusion to make the elections fair, impartial and peaceful.

During the meeting, the Secretary of the President's Office, Sahad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam and Secretary (Attached) Md. Wahidul Islam Khan was present.
