Dhaka, November 3: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi No. 32 on the occasion of Jail Killing Day. On Thursday (November 3) at 7 am, the Prime Minister paid tribute by placing a wreath.

First as the head of the government alone, later as the head of the party, Sheikh Hasina along with the Awami League leaders presented the wreath. She prayed there and left Dhanmondi for Banani. After that, the leaders of various branches and affiliated organizations of Awami League paid their respects with flowers.

On November 3, 1975, that is, just two and a half months after Bangabandhu's family was killed, four national leaders who were political comrades of Bangabandhu and who led the liberation war on his behalf were killed while incarcerated in Dhaka Central Jail. Since then, November 3 is celebrated as Jail Killing Day. The four national leaders were Syed Nazrul Islam, the first interim president of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad, cabinet members Captain M Mansoor Ali and AHM Kamaruzzaman.

The four national leaders were sent to Central Jail after the brutal killings on August 15.

Various organizations, including the ruling party Awami League, will remember this dark chapter in the history of the country by showing due respect to these four national leaders who were close associates of Bangabandhu.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave messages on the occasion. Besides, various political and social organizations including Awami League have undertaken various programs.
