Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 6 March 2024: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged RAB to play a more effective role in curbing juvenile gangs and drugs. At the same time, she asked to strengthen operations against food hoarding and unscrupulous traders in view of Ramadan and Eid. The prime minister made this call at the organization's 20th anniversary ceremony at the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) headquarters in Kurmitola on Wednesday.

She said, "The month of Ramadan is upon us. Ramadan is called the month of moderation, but unfortunately, we see that there are some dishonest traders who become more greedy instead of moderation. They hoard the daily commodities that we need more and do various manipulations including increasing the prices. Appropriate action should be taken against these unscrupulous traders as well as smugglers."

The head of government also said, "When Eid comes, the supply of fake currency increases. We need to increase the vigilance on those matters as well. Even though the operation is going on in these matters, so you should continue that operation. That is what we want."

Regarding juvenile gangs and drugs, Sheikh Hasina said, "Juvenile gangs are another problem in our country. Their emergence during the corona epidemic. There is an operation in this regard and we need to pay more attention to the issue. And drugs are destroying a family and society. Especially. The talent and work force of the youth is being lost. They are going astray. RAB is playing a vital role in this drug proliferation, which needs to be more effective."

She said, "Appropriate measures should be taken not only against drug users, but also against drug dealers and suppliers. And measures should be taken to stop drugs entering our country from any area by marking those routes."

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister urged RAB to continue its active role in rehabilitating women victims, including taking measures against violence against women, rape, trafficking etc.
