Process of importing electricity from Nepal at final stage: Nasrul Hamid
Dhaka, Feb 1: All the processes of importing 40 MW hydropower from Nepal via India are almost at the final stage.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said this after a courtesy meeting with Ambassador of Nepal Ghanshyam Bhandari appointed to Bangladesh at the Secretariat on Wednesday. They discussed various issues related to the mutual interests of the two countries.
The state minister said that the progress of importing another 500 MW of hydropower from Nepal is visible. A committee will be made at the ministry level. This committee will work on how to further increase power and energy trade with Nepal. Ambassador of Nepal congratulated Nasrul Hamid for being re-elected as State Minister.
The ambassador said that Nepal's energy cooperation with Bangladesh is continuously increasing. Working together will benefit both countries. Joint venture agreements may be entered into for joint investment.
